The IKEA Alex Storage

Here it is my organized makeup storage inspired by Enkore on YouTube. Thanks to Koren's tutorials it has helped me to make dividers for my ALEX drawer. I took his concepts and made adjustments according to my makeup collection.

I bought 6 white, thick paper sheets that students use for their science projects from Dollar Tree for .50 cents each. It took me 1 1/2 week to cut each set of dividers individually for the 6 drawers. There was a lot of measuring and cutting but it's worth it in the end. I don't need anymore mini plastic containers to store my makeup now.

The dividers on the outer edges help supports and keeps the other dividers more sturdy.

Yes, the dividers do extend all the way to the back. I can store 11 lipstick horizontally and 16 lipsticks vertically which means this drawer can store up to 176 lipsticks.

This is the 2nd drawer from the top. It is my first blush drawer. The 3 rows to the left are shorter than the last row on the right. I had to make this a universal drawer in order to fit all the different shapes and sizes of my blush compacts. The inches varies in the horizontal and vertical rows. It's not that hard but I did confuse myself at times with the measurements.

This is the 3rd drawer down from the top but it is my 2nd drawer of mineral and cream blushes. The dividers in this drawer is wider and deeper than my other blush drawer above. I had to customize the first 2 front rows to fit my ELF cream blushes. The dividers in this drawer is all the same height.

This is the 4th drawer down and it is my 1st single eye shadow drawer.

Here is a upclose view on how the dividers are made. I enjoyed making these dividers the most.

Another view on how all my eye shadows are lined up. It looks so neat and organized. I love staring at it.

This is the 5th drawer down. It is my 2nd drawer of single eye shadows too. These dividers here are customized for bigger eye shadow compacts. I also customized the front rows to fit my ELF cream eye shadows.

Again here is a side view. I can see everything now. No more piling my makeup one on top of another.

In this last drawer is where I store my mini eye shadow palettes. This drawer is one of the deeper drawers. I made the dividers in this drawer from a thicker foam sheet also sold for $1 at Dollar Tree.

I took this photo from a side view angle to show how the dividers support my mini eye shadow palettes stand upright in a slanted position. The dividers do extend all the way to the back of the drawer too. And this divider is the easiest of all the dividers to make.

Finally this is the last photo, it was just for fun.

Well, what do you think? I hope this has inspired you to make dividers for your makeup organization too.

    1. Thanks for following us. I've moved on to storing makeup differently nowadays because being the makeup is so hidden I never get around to using everything so that's why I no longer store them in the drawers. If I can remember it right, it's 11.5 W by 16.5 L. Like I mention Enkore's the one I followed the steps from.

  43. This looks so great! And I love that they are all organized into the drawers! Most of the time, I just leave my make up laying around. It can make a really big mess. When I was in college, I had my own studio apartment, and I never had to worry about sharing a bathroom, keeping things tidy or put away so they wouldn't get stolen. I really didn't clean up very much in college, how I miss those days! I just got married a few months ago, and I've really tried hard to keep all of my bathroom items put away on shelves or in plastic bins. I haven't liked this system very much because I feel like things are harder to find, and it takes me that much longer to get ready in the morning. I've been looking around, trying to find ways to store my make up, so it's not all over the bathroom counter, but still easily accessible. These drawers look so easy; I wouldn't have to reconstruct the bathroom counters at all! Just the drawers! And they would be super easy!

  46. I must be in the minority, I prefer to have written instructions. I found them easier to follow than the video. Both is even better. But I love this idea thinking it would work for my stickles. I don't wear makeup.
